General Info

Tucked away at 6/18-20 Greenfield Parade in Bankstown, NSW, La Ca 43 is the kind of restaurant you come across once and then keep returning to. The location feels easygoing, with free street parking nearby, which already makes visiting a lot more convenient. From the moment you step in, the casual atmosphere sets the tone-nothing too formal, just a relaxed space where groups can gather comfortably and enjoy a good meal together.

What stands out immediately is how approachable the menu feels. It’s not overwhelming, yet it offers enough variety to keep things interesting. On my visit, I went straight for the Grilled Pork Sauce Lemongrass (Nem Lụi), which turned out to be a highlight. The pork was smoky and fragrant, with that signature lemongrass aroma that hits you right away. Wrapped with fresh herbs and dipped into sauce, each bite felt balanced and satisfying without being too heavy.

Another dish that deserves attention is the Lotus Root Salad with Prawn and Pork (Gỏi Ngó Sen Tôm Thịt). It’s light, refreshing, and packed with texture. The crunch of lotus root combined with tender prawns and slices of pork creates a really pleasant contrast. Plus, the dressing ties everything together with just the right mix of tangy and savory flavors. It’s the kind of dish that complements richer items on the menu perfectly.

Service at La Ca 43 is simple but reliable. The staff keep things moving smoothly, whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout. Table service is efficient, and you never feel rushed, which adds to the overall laid-back experience. It’s the type of place where you can sit, chat, and enjoy your food without any pressure.

From a diner’s perspective, the overall experience feels genuine. The food reflects consistency, and the environment supports both casual meals and group gatherings. Reviews from visitors often highlight the same points-the welcoming vibe, the well-prepared dishes, and the ease of access thanks to its location.

La Ca 43 doesn’t try to be overly fancy, and that’s exactly why it works. It focuses on delivering flavorful dishes, a comfortable setting, and dependable service. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick takeout or planning a relaxed meal with friends, this restaurant offers a straightforward yet memorable dining experience in Bankstown.

What customers say?

“ The first time visiting La Ca 43 and the broken rice (cơm tấm) was the highlight — so good. The pork was tender and flavourful, and the fish sauce on the side tasted just like any good cơm tấm spot in Saigon. The crab noodles were a bit light for me, but still good. I’ll definitely be back to try the rest. Bonus: the staff and the owner are really friendly and lovely. ”

“ An authentic Vietnamese restaurant that focuses on specialities from Da Nang, it is quite welcoming to see another region of Vietnamese food offered in Bankstown. The Pho Bo Dac Biet has a simple and light broth and usually vermicelli noodles. Beef slices were fresh and it included a crab roe ball. The pork chop was well marinated and the nem nuong was grilled well. The ice coffee was strong. The food came quickly and staff was friendly. Overall enjoyed my visit here. ”

“ We’ve been coming here for a long time because the Da Nang dishes are genuinely great. The flavours are spot on and when the staff are focused the service is warm and lovely. The food itself is consistently amazing. The challenge is the consistency of the business. The restaurant has been around for years yet it’s often closed without notice. They rarely pick up the phone and there’s no signage when they’re away, which makes it hard to plan a visit. We’ve also waited more than an hour for a simple takeaway dish with no heads-up. The food is excellent and worth coming back for, but the reliability and communication need improvement. We’ll still keep coming because we genuinely think this is a great little spot with fantastic food, and we want to support the business. If things become more consistent with opening hours and communication, we’re more than happy to update this review to reflect that. ”

Conveniently located and easy to find, the restaurant attracts many diners thanks to its distinctive flavors and good service quality. At La Ca 43, guests can enjoy specialties like rich and flavorful lẩu mắm (fermented fish hotpot), fresh steamed clams with lemongrass, and crispy beef tripe salad. “ A newly opened Vietnamese restaurant specialised in middle region of Vietnam - Da Nang which is my hometown. I appreciated their efforts in bringing specialty dishes in the heart of Bankstown. We tried a few hotpot dishes which are very generous in portions and have balanced flavours. Bò nhúng giấm hotpot is the best amongst them all. Nem lụi would be better if the sauce has a thicker consistency and less sweet. A solid 4/5 for me! Lovely experience… ”

“ We walked pass this restaurant so many times but finally decided to give it a try. I really loved what we ordered. I'm a big fan of Bún Mắm but I haven't found a place that sells Bún Mắm that is close to the taste of the ones in Vietnam, until we ate at La Cà 43 couple days ago. Both my husband and I really enjoyed the mini hot pot. We also ordered the grilled pork minced lemongrass with rice paper, their special dipping sauce is just like how I had it in Vietnam, it reminds me of Vietnam so much. We'll definitely be back They have good portion, price is really reasonable too. Staffs are friendly ”

“ Love this place. They actually bring Danang flavor to Bankstown. Highly recommend the Bun Mam Nem, Bun Cha Ca, Lau Thai and Thit Xien Nuong. They also have peanut milk which is a rare find in Sydney. ”
